Why Turkey?

Accredited hospitals with advanced healthcare technology, experienced physicians recognised internationally in surgical specialties such as organ transplantation, cardiac surgery, orthopaedics, and oncology are contributing to Turkey's rising star in global healthcare tourism.

According to 2023 data, the number of foreign patients treated in Turkey is 1,506,442.

There are 1,566 hospitals, 266,594 hospital beds, and 224,223 doctors in Turkey.

Turkey is also a strong attraction centre for health tourism thanks to its geographical location offering easy access and short flight distances, its skilled and educated workforce in the sector, its thermal springs, and its natural and historical beauty. Affordable treatment costs and virtually non-existent waiting times for foreign patients are among the reasons why foreign patients choose to receive treatment in Turkey. Today, some of Turkey's major private hospital chains have hospitals across a wide geographical area, from the Netherlands to Bulgaria, Germany to Baku and Georgia.

The new health tourism regulation published in Turkey in April 2025 requires all hospitals, doctors, medical centres, and intermediary institutions operating in this field to obtain accreditation and register on the Health Turkey portal of the Ministry of Health. From now on, all foreign patients coming to Turkey for treatment will be assigned a code by the Ministry of Health through the Health Turkey portal. This will enable the Ministry of Health to monitor the satisfaction of patients from abroad regarding the treatment they receive in Turkey, whether in private or public hospitals. The aim is to enhance service quality standards in health tourism and increase the satisfaction of patients coming from abroad.
